London-based healthtech company 01Health has secured $15m in Series A funding as it prepares to expand its specialist healthcare platform across the UK and launch into the United States.
The investment round was led by Gresham House Ventures, with follow-on funding from existing investors Balderton Capital, Eka Ventures and Wavemaker360. The round also included participation from angel investors, including Blockchain.com co-founder Nicolas Cary.
The latest funding will support the commercial rollout of the 01Health platform, which has until now operated behind the scenes powering the company’s specialist dental businesses, 32Co and Aerox Health. For the first time, the platform will be made available under licence to independent practices, practice groups and dental service organisations.
Founded in 2022 by former NHS doctor Dr Sonia Szamocki, 01Health was created to tackle one of healthcare’s biggest challenges: access to specialist care. The company focuses on healthcare areas where patients struggle to access specialists because of workforce shortages, geographic limitations or infrastructure constraints.
Its platform enables specialist healthcare services to be delivered through local clinics, helping patients access advanced treatments closer to home. The company describes its approach as bringing “Harley Street to the high street”.
The funding marks another milestone in the company’s rapid growth. Headquartered in London, 01Health has expanded to a team of more than 100 employees and has gained recognition through its orthodontics platform 32Co, which has been featured in Entrepreneur’s London’s 100 Startups and Startups.co.uk’s Startups 100 rankings.
The company says 32Co is now the highest-rated clear aligner system among UK dentists, with 90 per cent of the UK population living within 30 minutes of a 32Co dentist operating on the 01Health platform.
Dr Sonia Szamocki, founder and CEO of 01Health, said the company was focused on addressing the structural barriers preventing patients from accessing specialist treatment.
“The biggest bottleneck in healthcare isn’t cost; it’s access. Specialists are concentrated in a handful of postcodes; patients aren’t. 01Health is the infrastructure designed to close that gap. 32Co and Aerox have already brought expert dental treatments to areas of the UK where such treatments were inaccessible, proving the concept that specialist care could be democratised if the right technology layer existed underneath it. Now this technology layer goes live as 01Health, the first of a kind end-to-end platform built to enable clinics and clinicians to launch and scale specialist treatments. We are delighted to have received this support from investors who share our vision to make the best healthcare accessible to all, irrespective of location, across the UK and soon the US.”
The company is already conducting trials in the US and has appointed a Head of US Commercial Operations to oversee expansion into the American market.
Investors say the platform has the potential to significantly improve access to specialist healthcare while helping clinicians and healthcare organisations scale services more efficiently.
Greta Anderson, Managing Director at Balderton Capital, said:
“We’re incredibly proud of Sonia and her team as they cross two major milestones, a successful Series A and the launch of the 01Health platform. Over the last four years, they’ve built 32Co into the UK’s highest-rated clear aligner provider and successfully expanded from orthodontics into sleep medicine with Aerox Health, both delivered through its network of dentists. What stood out to us from the beginning was Sonia’s ambition to build the infrastructure that enables specialist healthcare to be delivered through general practitioner networks at scale, a vision that extended far beyond any single service or practitioner type. Today’s launch marks an important step towards making that vision a reality.”
Zixin Pan, Associate Director at Gresham House Ventures, added:
“Demand for specialist care continues to grow globally, while access to specialist expertise remains constrained. 01Health’s platform enables specialist clinicians to support significantly larger networks of general practitioners remotely, creating a highly scalable model for expanding patient access to specialist-led care. We are excited to partner with Dr Sonia Szamocki and the team as they continue to scale the platform in the UK and internationally.”
Dr Szamocki’s inspiration for launching the business came from her experience working as an NHS A&E doctor and later as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group. She observed that specialist healthcare remained concentrated in hospitals and major urban centres, while local clinics often lacked the systems and oversight needed to provide more advanced treatments.
The result, she argues, has been growing waiting lists, delayed treatment and unequal access to specialist expertise.
01Health aims to bridge that gap by providing clinics with a technology platform that combines specialist oversight, clinical protocols, AI-powered patient acquisition tools, communications systems and operational workflows.
The commercial launch follows a 12-month pilot programme involving a select group of enterprise partners.
Currently, the platform supports specialist dental services through orthodontics provider 32Co and dental sleep medicine provider Aerox Health. Both services are used by thousands of dentists across the UK and help practices expand treatment offerings, improve patient access and generate additional revenue.
Aerox Health, launched in 2025, focuses on helping patients access treatment for snoring and mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnoea through local dental practices. The service is now operating in multiple towns and cities across the UK, with waiting lists established in several regions as practices increase capacity.
While dentistry has been the company’s initial focus, 01Health says its platform is designed to be used across multiple healthcare specialities. Trials are already underway in additional healthcare sectors, with further expansion planned following the latest investment.
The new funding brings total capital raised by the company to $25 million and will be used to accelerate adoption of the platform among healthcare providers in both the UK and US.
With demand for specialist care continuing to rise and healthcare systems facing increasing pressure, 01Health believes its technology can help close the gap between patients and specialists by enabling advanced care to be delivered through the local clinics people already know and trust.
